  • Guild Transfer to Naginanehs-AU Server

After a solid six years as an old school and relatively predominant Raiding Guild on our home server of Hyjal-US, the time has finally come for Vox Immortalis to move on -- frankly to greener pastures and relatively much closer to larger sheep populations. Therefore, it is with my excitement and a little trepidation, I am announcing Vox's migration to the upcoming Naginanehs-AU server!

For those that frequent our site (or for the few Guildies I haven't broken the news to yet), the transfer comes at a perfect time. Having been unable to keep Normal content on farm and wiping against the challenges presented by Argoloth on more than one occasion, I realized Blizzard's announcement to finally open up the new AU servers was a sign from the heavens, as competition on Hyjal is just too much for us to handle.

The Naginanehs-AU server, along with Citna-AU, Maerd-AU, and a handful of other Australian-based servers have been a long-time coming for our mates in the southern hemisphere, and while most Vox Members reside in the US, I immediately jumped on the opportunity when transfers were announced to AU locales, as the gameplay benefits for latency-based fights are immense.

The reasoning is slightly technical, but primarily this is due to the difficulty of data transfer from data centers across mainland areas (such as our own United States) causing more difficult pathways for packets, which must traverse through miles and miles of earth and cable, squeezing their particles between soil and dog poo atoms alike -- a tedious waste of energy.

On the other hand, the AU servers offer unhindered travel by sending packets through the air and atmosphere (far less molecularly dense than rock and soil) to bounce off a satellite back to our local ISPs. The latency savings will be truly remarkable on fights like Maloriak and Nefarian where instant reactions can make or break us, so I'm looking forward to that immensely.

As with all great news though, there is a small catch, but I don't foresee any major issues. Since these are new servers and demand is high, transfers are not free, so all Vox members will need to pay for character transfers on their own. Still, at a mere $25, you need only avoid your morning Starbucks five or six times (assuming you only have one character, which most high level players do these days).

The AU servers are scheduled to go live April 10th, so we have a bit over a week to take care of any business and get over there, to take full advantage and grab up all the Realm Firsts we can -- HLK anyone?!
